Hurricane Lowell was a major storm that inflicted considerable wind damage and flooding throughout Kauai. Wai’oli Hui’ia Church experienced moderate wind damage, including some broken stained glass and roof damage. The main windows, notably the prominent street-facing one, were spared. An ancient 100-foot pine tree was partially sheared, but the debris fell away from the historic Mission Hall building. The white perimeter fencing is damaged and displaced, but no water damage has been reported thus far. Power has been out for several days and will so until electricity is restored to Hanalei and the North Shore. Wai’oli will begin cleanup and repairs as allow.
